This is a new Noro scarf for the store. I used two skeins of the new Cotton Hill
and one new color of Silk Garden Lite. I cast on 300 sts on a 24″ sz 9 circular
and worked in an ABCBC (CH04, SG2027, CH03)color pattern in garter stitch.

Me likey.

I”m still working on the little lace collars. One is done another is still hanging

on the hook. I hope to get three done by Thursday. Thursday night my crochet

1 class meets for the first time! I’m very excited! Later this week I’ll also be

casting on for this in this yarn (soft grape).

Its a Small World

Myself and a couple other ladies at work are chugging away at 20 of these lacy

little collars. A local Irish Dance troop needs them by March 1st  – yeesh. I made

snowflake ornaments one year, just to amuse myself, I guess I had forgotten

just how TINY this work is! At least there is the added bonus of pushing 48

little pearls along ahead of the work to keep me interested 🙂

peruvia-gauntlets.JPGAs promised, the project I used that lovely hand-dyed Peruvia for: crocheted gauntlets. I may be teaching this as a class in the fall or submitting to a new One-Skein Wonders book so no pattern is available yet – if I don’t do anything with it I’ll post the pattern for y’all. I’m totally psyched to tell you that my Crochet 1 class is full! I even have people on the waiting list – WhooHoo 🙂

2-swatches.JPG Also this weekend I am a swatching fool. We realized a few weeks ago as we geared up for all the new spring yarns that we had quite a few yarns from the fall that never got swatched, so, the list nearly doubled. Here we have one older yarn: Malizioso from Filatura di Crosa, a 90%wool/10%acrylic blend the knits up at 2.5-3sts/inch on US 10.  And the new yarn: Bali from Tahki Yarns, a 100% bamboo tape that knits up at 4sts/inch on US 10.5.

I have a quick crochet hat to make and write the pattern for, a couple more rows on my ripple blanket and the first round of birds to be had from the Chicken of the Month Club. The girls should be up in the Etsy shop tomorrow or Tuesday morning. I’ll let you know!

Come Sail Away

new-rowan-yarns.JPG This is some more of the fantastic schwag that I get from work. More new Rowan yarns to play with so I can reccommend them to customers. The 4 up top are “calmer”, a very stretchy and soft i-cord cotton acrylic blend. This stuff would make great baby clothes and would be good for any summer top. The three lower yarns are “4 Season Cotton”. Now, I’m not much of a cotton girl – it hurts my hands when I knit it, but I have quite a pile going in here and I needed something to do with it. Then I remembered what Jane had done and what Alicia was working on and I thought I’d dive in.

ripple-beginnings.JPGIt seemed right once I got started. I’m teaching the Crochet 1 class at the store this spring and I needed to make nice again with my hooks. I tossed the colors into the random stripe generater and away we went. I’m liking it and the cotton isn’t hurting my hands yet.

hd-peruvia.JPGThis is “Peruvia” from Berroco. You will not find this color anywhere. My coworker took a hank of the natural home to try dyeing it – this is the result. She wasn’t happy with the results but it works for me! I’ll have pics of what I’m working on with it later this week, its a possible class for the fall.

new-noro.JPGFinally we have new Noro yarns. Two skeins of the brand-new “Cotton Hill” and one new color of the “Silk Garden Lite”. I’m knitting up a swatch and a scarf for the store – finished pics later in the week.
