What could this girl be doing for a whole week that she didn’t

have time to blog about it!?!

This:

   

My version of felted peonies, or maybe dahlias :) and leaves

for the already finished hydrangeas. I have a few bits left to

finish, giving them all wire wrapped stems has been a real

flashback for me. Ages ago I worked here and spent hours

each week wrapping 18 gauge wire with florist tape, hours.

I actually developed a callus on my right index finger from

all the wrapping, yup, hours. Anyway… I’m feeling so happy

with the progress on this project and with the results so far

that I’m throwing out a contest AND and easy one at that.

Lavender Blue, Dilly Dilly

Hee Hee Hee, clever me

Oh, Cupcake! This is fun.

So, 4″ foam balls around which I have crocheted and slightly

felted some Cascade 220. Jo Sharp Silk Road Aran in Taffeta

was knit into little ovals, felted, cut in half and stitched points

together to form the florets. Apple green E beads were added

and they were sewn onto the foam form. I’m working on the

peonies and some of the foliage this weekend. I lurve this!

I Think I’m Turning Japanese

My friend, Megan Mc, recently traveled to Japan and brought back goodies

I don’t have pics of this yet but she brought back a puzzle and some teeny

stamps from the munchikins current favorite movie, ”My Neighbor Totoro“.

Its all about the cat bus.

For me, which was a total surprise, she brought back two craft books.

      

The first is all amigurumi animals. I feel  a need to make the frogs.

    

The second is a sewing book that she picked up because of the chickens!

Oh, yeah and I threw a shot of our seedlings in there, not bad huh!

Speaking of chickens. We are getting some. Yup, real chickens.

Easter Egg Chickens actually, from my Auntie Nan and Uncle Sherm.

Now we just need to build the coop to house them, fence it in and go

get the birds. *sigh* I want them now

Ramble On

So, news.

I am stepping down as the Assistant Manager at Webs.

Too much stuff is just piling up in my life and I can’t do the job effectivly.

I’m staying on part-time though so I’ll still enjoy the Weby goodness.

This all means that I’ll have tons of time at home with the munchikins this summer and plenty of time to get some serious crafting done, not to mention the ability to spend time with friends and family more often than once every other weekend

OK, now for the pics of WIP goodness and munchikins:

   

Yesterday the Hubby took the girls out to ride bikes so they got new helmets and

elbow and knee pads - this makes them think they have super powers, no kidding.

Today they went candlepin bowling and had a blast!

    

This is a HUGE hank of yarn from Gail, The Kangaroo Dyer. Its a cotton wool

blend and there is enough yardage for a sweater for one of the munchikins.

The second and third  pics are a test color for Franklin Sock Yarn – I lurve it!

I’ve used it in the past for more than socks - good stuff.

   

Finally, two yarns from SWTC. The first is Tofutsies, a sock yarn for those who

are not fond of wool. We had the Sock Boot Camp event at the store today and

about 60 or so people came to try out this yarn. We got to wear pink camoflage

shirts and addict introduce people to sock knitting - it was a good day. That last

pic is a project for the store that is almost finished, a little t-shirt crocheted in

SWTC Vicki Howell Rock. I should have finished pics later in the week. Till then…

Mary Mary

This year to celebrate Easter and Spring I decided to plant seeds with the munchikins.

I dug a bunch of dehydrated peat pellets and some cellulose pots out of the garden

box in the  garage and set to rehydrating them while they were  out caching

with the Hubby on Saturday. These are pics of

a.) mid rehydration, b.) just after planting, and c.) seedlings

     

I should have some interesting news later this week. We have some big

changes happening here in the little yellow house…

no Mom, I’m not pregnant.

Suitcase for Two

I have a bit of sewing to do for the Bean today:

I have a few things to finish up this weekend, a crochet t-shirt

for the store(I’ll have pics when its done), some little felty bits

for the munchikins easter baskets and some jewelry for them too.

I’ll also be getting some more work done on Cupcake’s bouquet.

And I got something for myself, with lots of extra room for

future acquisitions  (I miss my old trapper keeper):

Drive

No pics tonight. I’m tired.

We stayed at my Mom and Sis’s place last night so we wouldn’t have as far to

drive to get to our family reunion today in upstate New York. We were there

for about 3 hours and it was great to see Aunts and Uncles and Cousins that

we don’t get to see very often - some for years at a time. The frosting on my

cake today was seeing my Memaire. She is my Mom’s step-mom but that’s

never made any difference to me, she’s my grandmother, she’s family.

She taught me how to knit and how to crochet.

She taught me counted cross stitch, cursive letters and how to play a

kick-ass game of Uno. Yellow cake with chocolate frosting, Fraggle Rock,

chocolate chip cookies with pudding in the mix!, Swamp Thing, my favorite

salad dressing,  George Strait’s Texas Exes, THE BEST spaghetti sauce and

everything else that I could never have enough time to list

- for these things I thank you.
